Providing vocational skills to Lady Ayaz Pakistan centre under UNHCR Safe from Start program

Sze Women of Hope trainer and volunteers hold weekly sewing classes at Lady Ayaz center. This vocational training, under UNHCR Safe from Start program, has benefitted nine refugee women immensely through skill training, pattern making, design, and advanced sewing lessons. This range of training courses provides the women a chance to build skills and boost employability. Sze Women of Hope plays a vital role in improving the technical skills of refugee women, enabling them to receive sewing jobs or start their own business. We have provided marketing linkage in addition to vocational training and assist in connecting businesses to the Lady Ayaz center.As of January this year, Sze Women of Hope designers have been providing sewing employment to two women...

World Refugee Day Event at Sze Women of Hope

In commemoration to World Refugee Day, ‘Sze Women of Hope’ hosted a event at our studio to raise more awareness on refugees in Malaysia. Local refugee organizations participated  in our event and they are, the Rohingya Women Development Network (RWDN), ELHAM and the Tanma Federation which consists of 5 groups (Ingraw, Pawghee, CWO, Kaoprise and Mangtha). Furthermore, we were joined by two representatives from the UNHCR to witness the event. Following the opening of the event, some organizations had representatives to conduct empowerment speeches. Founder and director of RWDN, Sharifah conducted a speech regarding Women refugee empowerment. Ann, owner of Happy Fluff Pet Business and business provider partner of Sze proudly shared her engagement with refugees and how it would help her business...

Tanma Federation (Myanmar Refugee Women) educational class and celebratory lunch

Every Wednesday at our studio in the dense part of town in Kuala Lumpur, we held classes for Tanma Federation refugee women. Tanma federation unites five refugee groups:- the Kachin, Chin, Mon, and Karen under its federation and they currently occupy a part of our studio space. This collaboration provides us the opportunity to assist them with ease in daily communication on techniques to enhance the lives of the Burmese refugee women.  To visit our studio, kindly email us at team@szewomenofhope.com or tanmawomen@gmail.com Sze Women of Hope provided literacy, product, and vocational training to three refugee groups in Malaysia under UNHCR "Women's Empowerment Program".

Corum Watches Presents Pearly Wong 'Sze Women of Hope' Runway Show

We had a night of celebration for refugee communities in Malaysia through a fashion presentation which clothes and accessories are ethically made by the refugee women through Pearly Wong's Sze Women of Hope livelihood education in collaboration with UNHCR Malaysia. By showcasing the refugees' artisanal skill set, we wish to bring public awareness to their plight in Malaysia and to give them a sustainable income for self-reliance building through selling their artisanal crafts.
